"So far my experience in the Environmental Humanities minor has been wonderful, I love being able to explore the relationship between the humanities and the environment from my Eco Gothic Lit class to my Environment and the Political Process class. I also love getting my hands dirty in the garden, meeting new people, and seeing friends from class!"

"If there is one thing the Environmental Humanities minor has been excellent at, it's fostering love in the Baylor community—a love that extends to all our earthly neighbors—and it brings me hope for the future we are growing here.”

"I am all in as a part of the minor, looking forward to taking more classes and even pursuing an Environmental Humanities-based undergraduate thesis in the coming semesters. My experience with Environmental Humanities has opened my eyes to a whole side of environmental concern with which I was not previously familiar. Before, I would have told you that I cared a lot about the environment, “but I’m just not a science girl.” Which is absolutely the truth. However, here I’ve learned about humanities-based conversations of Environmental justice and protection, found a community of people concerned with the societal aspects of environmental issues, and learned how our values as people impact how we treat nature and care for the Lord’s creation.“

“My experience in the Environmental Humanities minor so far has been fantastic. It has allowed me to take interesting courses that I would not have ordinarily taken, prompted me to explore different options within my area of study, and opened my eyes to the different approaches to environmentalism and environmental thought. Additionally, I have loved my time in the Baylor Community Gardens and it's great to see the involvement of Environmental Humanities in that.”

“From unique expressions of art, to educational literature and poetry, to many theological and biblical environmental perspectives, to digging into the science and philosophy of it all, minoring in Environmental Humanities has given me many wonderful opportunities to learn how I can care for the Earth and those who occupy it. Furthermore, the minor has helped me learn how I can be a part of that change by contributing to composting, cultivating gardens on Baylor's campus, and going out into the Waco community to meet and work alongside local groups in the Sustainable Community and Regenerative Agriculture Project (SCRAP). It is through all these experiences that I have only become increasingly fired up about the mission behind Environmental Humanities.”

"Being a part of the Environmental Humanities minor has been nothing short of transformative. As a student with a deep passion for both science and the humanities, I never thought I would find a program that seamlessly integrates these two disciplines. Studying within this program has allowed me to think about the intricate connections between humanity, the environment, and our responsibilities as stewards of Creation. It's been a profound exploration of what it means to honor God's call to care for the earth while also understanding the science behind environmental issues. One of the most remarkable aspects of this program is its emphasis on real-world applications. I've had the opportunity to witness firsthand the tangible impacts of environmental decisions not only on our planet, but its inhabitants. This holistic approach has not only broadened my understanding but has also deepened my commitment to become an environmental lawyer one day and fight for environmental justice. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities, knowledge, and inspiration that the Environmental Humanities program has given me, and it has made me excited to continue my journey towards a more just and sustainable world."

“I chose to minor in Environmental Humanities because I was inspired by how passionate my professors were and this encouraged me to pursue it as a minor. Whenever they talked about issues or topics concerning the environment, they were always knowledgeable and did their best to influence their students. I have always enjoyed the practical aspects of the classes I have taken, such as visiting Cameron Park and the Baylor Community Gardens while interacting with nature and the environment. I enjoy being able to learn through hands-on experience, learning how we interact with the environment, and feeling like my actions have an impact.”
