What to Bring
- Water Bottle: Stay hydrated! We encourage everyone to bring their own resuable water bottle.
- Closed-Toe Shoes: Protect your feet with sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
- Sun Protection: On hot, sunny days, consider hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
- Outdoor Clothes: Wear clothes you can get dirty and that feel comfortable.
What to Anticipate
We have a range of garden tasks, varying in physical intensity. These can include shoveling and spreading mulch or lifting and carrying loads of over 30 pounds. If you require any accommodations, please inform us prior to your arrival (CommunityGarden@baylor.edu).
Housekeeping Notes
- Restroom: There is no restroom at the 9th and James Street garden. A restroom can be accessed at the Teal garden—speak with a garden team member.
- Pets: Any pets brought into the spaces must be on leashes. Owners are responsible for cleaning up and disposing of pet waste.
- Parking: Spaces are available along the surrounding streets at the 9th and James garden and in the East Village Garage near the Teal Residenital College garden.
- Start Time: Garden shifts begin promptly at the scheduled times.
- Recording Your Service: Please arrive on time and check in using the QR code next to each garden entrance to record your service.
- Contributing: We encourage you to help spread composting on Baylor's campus. During your service, talk to one of our team members about receiving a composting bucket for your group or residential space. We welcome your sponsorship to keep the Baylor Community Gardens growing. Every dollar helps!
